Foreign vessels arriving into the country to operate on a short term are required to clear Customs and Immigration. Thereafter, Owners/Charter Managers must apply for a “Foreign Vessel Sea-worthiness Certificate” using the available form at the Belize Port Authority’s main office.
Owner(s)/Charter Managers are also required to make the necessary provision to have their vessel inspected by the Authority.
The following documents required when applying:
- By Owner – The Certificate of Registry/Documentation/Title and Bill of Sale
- By Charter Manager -Charter Party Agreement
- Notarized Power of Attorney and
- Customs Temporary Permit/Ship’s Report
The application form and all necessary attachments are then submitted to the Ports Commissioner for approval.
