Minister of Transport and National Emergency Management (with responsibility for Ports), Edmond Castro was Guest Speaker yesterday at inauguration ceremonies for a new building held on 31 May, 2017 to house the headquarters of the Belize Port Authority.
The building was constructed at a cost of $1.7 Million and is located at Mile 4 on the George Price Highway just outside Belize City, adjacent to the Belize Coast Guard Headquarters.
Other speakers at the event included Chairperson of the Belize Port Authority Board of Directors Ruth Staine Dawson, who also joined Castro in cutting the symbolic ribbon and unveiling the plaque.
Also present at the event was Ports Commissioner Merlene Bailey Martinez and CEO in the Ministry of Transport and National Emergency Management, Ruth Meighan.
Commander of the Belize Coast Guard Admiral, John Borland and former Ports Commissioners Major (ret.) Lloyd Jones and Major (ret.) John Flowers along with members of the Belize Port Authority Board of Directors and staff members from the Belize Port Authority countrywide were in attendance also.
