Notice to Mariners: COVID 19

The Belize Port Authority hereby informs the Maritime Community that the Government of Belize has made the decision to close all borders from entry of passengers with the following;

  1. Belize/Mexico Land Border
  2. Phillip Goldson International Airport (PGIA)

Maritime ports are closed to all traffic, including cruise ship and pleasure yachts, with the exception of Cargo vessels and Petroleum Tankers.

The Government has also prohibited the landing of persons who  have travelled within the last 30 days from China, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, South Korea, and Europe for entry into Belize. This restricted travel list of countries will be continuously monitored and updated as necessary.

All Belizean nationals and residents returning to Belize through any point of entry from any of the restricted countries or an area where community infection and spread is present will be placed under self-isolation upon arrival and expected to follow the protocols of the Ministry of Health.

To date, there are no confirmed cases of COVID 19 in Belize; however, the above measures are precautionary actions.

This notice will be updated as new directives from the Government of Belize are received.
