Finance Department Roles and Responsibilities
The Finance Department is focused on providing efficient and effective internal financial support and stability to the other departments as well as maintaining compliance with Financial Laws such as the Finance and Audit (Reform) Act, Chapter 15, Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP), and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The Finance Department also fully supports all mandated external audits of its financial records in accordance with the Belize Port Authority Act, Chapter 233.
Its roles and functions includes finance and business services, Budgeting management and control, asset management, inventory management and control, accounts receivables, accounts payables, payroll and statutory filings. To achieve these goals, the department is continuously qualifying and equipping its team members with relevant and necessary training and equipment to enhance their performance to the highest levels. The vision of the Finance Department is to produce an in depth standing operating procedure manual for all of its functions and procedures.
