CMOU Annual Port State Control Seminar

Mr. Devaughn Flowers is currently participating in the Annual Port State Control Seminar which is being hosted by the Caribbean Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control (CMOU). This regional seminar is being held in St. George’s, Grenada from June 10 to June 14, 2024. The seminar is geared and enhancing the knowledge and skills of Port State Control Officers in the Caribbean region and will focus on two key areas for the upcoming Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC): Crew wages and Marine Pollution from ships, specifically garbage from ships. Port State Control Officers in the various Caribbean countries will all be conducting the CIC from September to November 2024. Practical training sessions on both the CIC and MARPOL Annex V will be integral parts of this seminar.

The primary objective of this training session is to advance the regional training of Port State Control Officers (PSCOs) in the Caribbean. A significant emphasis is placed on the importance of PSCOs returning to their respective territories to facilitate the training of other officers, thereby amplifying the impact of the seminar across the region.
